On Wednesday, May 16, 2012, I had the wonderful opportunity to present two Debbie’s Club workshops at the Keep the Promise! Young Women’s Empowerment Summit. This event was held by the Girl Scouts of Ohio’s Heartland and Columbus City Schools. Girl Scouts from grades 6-12 attended to learn about leadership, communication and self-discovery.
The girls that attended my workshops were fantastic! Everyone was engaged and willing to participate. These girls even demonstrated how to make a good first impression, something that I emphasize in my book, “Debbie’s Club: Discovering MyTrueBeauty™ for Girls” and something I believe to be very important!
We talked about finding your true story, true self and true beauty. We discussed the things that make us unique and how we should have confidence in our differences! Some girls opened up about their past and how they have changed for the better. The girls came in as individuals, but left the workshop as a group of friends. By the end, everyone was all smiles and signing each other’s Debbie’s Club t-shirts!
Wednesday was a great day, and I can’t wait to see these girls as they continue to grow and make a positive impact on our community. I want to thank the Girl Scouts of Ohio’s Heartland and the Columbus City Schools for hosting such a wonderful event to empower these great young women.
